5 R's--Reuse, reduce, recycle, recover, repair

REDUCING-  Most effective way to battle the flow of garbage into the landfill.  Plastic bags contribute to a lot of waste.
REUSING--What we have, what we cannot reduce we should be reuse.
REPAIR- your equipment rather than buying a new one.bin
-Buy durable good quality products that will last to reduce waste as a result of having to buy a new product so often.
RECYCLING--What has been used.  Materials and packaging that cannot be reused should be recycled at home, work and school.

RECOVERING Energy from waste--recovery energy from wastes that cannot be used for something else.
--this is quite difficult to put into practice by individuals, and is geared more toward industry.
